SUNDAY

Women Serving Jesus

1. Observe how various women ministered to Jesus.
  • Matt. 27:55 And many women were there beholding afar off, which followed Jesus from Galilee, ministering unto him: Matt. 27:56 Among which was Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James and Joses, and the mother of Zebedee’s children.

  • Luke 23:55 And the women also, which came with him from Galilee, followed after, and beheld the sepulchre, and how his body was laid. Luke 23:56 And they returned, and prepared spices and ointments; and rested the sabbath day according to the commandment.

APPLICATION QUESTIONS: How are women different from men when it comes to serving Jesus?

MONDAY

Women in the Acts

1. Observe how various women in the New Testament played a part in the work of the gospel.
  • Acts 1:14 These all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication, with the women, and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brethren.

  • Acts 16:14 And a certain woman named Lydia, a seller of purple, of the city of Thyatira, which worshipped God, heard us: whose heart the Lord opened, that she attended unto the things which were spoken of Paul.

  • 1Cor. 16:19 The churches of Asia salute you. Aquila and Priscilla salute you much in the Lord, with the church that is in their house.

  • Phil. 4:3 And I intreat thee also, true yokefellow, help those women which laboured with me in the gospel, with Clement also, and with other my fellowlabourers, whose names are in the book of life.

  • Titus 2:3 The aged women likewise, that they be in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things; Titus 2:4 That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children, Titus 2:5 To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed.

DISCUSSION QUESTION: After reading each text, discuss what great influence women can have in the gospel ministry today.

TUESDAY

Peter’s Sermon

1. What kind of spirit could we learn from Mary Magdalene?
  • Matt. 26:7-13 There came unto him a woman having an alabaster box of very precious ointment, and poured it on his head, as he sat at meat Matt. 26:8 But when his disciples saw it, they had indignation, saying, To what purpose is this waste? ….Matt. 26:10 When Jesus understood it, he said unto them, Why trouble ye the woman? for she hath wrought a good work upon me…. Matt. 26:12 For in that she hath poured this ointment on my body, she did it for my burial. Matt. 26:13 Verily I say unto you, Wheresoever this gospel shall be preached in the whole world, there shall also this, that this woman hath done, be told for a memorial of her.

ANSWER:

  • The spirit of sacrifice is the best - “A woman having an alabaster box of very precious ointment”
  • The spirit of taking the opportunity to follow your conviction(s) - “and poured it on his head, as he sat at meat”
  • The spirit of courage to face criticism - “they had indignation”
  • The spirit of thoughtfulness - what would be most meaningful to the person - “she did it for my burial”

APPLICATION QUESTION: What relationship is there between the spirit of Mary and the sprit of mission?

Wednesday/ Thursday

The Woman at the Well

1. What did the woman at the well say to the whole city when she called them to see Jesus?

John 4:29 Come, see a man, which told me all things that ever I did: is not this the Christ?

Answer: Christ, who knew all her sins

ANSWER: Christ, who knew all her sins.

DISCUSSION QUESTIONS:

  • Why was she so excited that Jesus knew all her sins?

  • What lesson could we learn from this story, regarding what causes us to be excited about sharing Jesus with people that we used to avoid?
